HITN is a Spanish-language media company delivering educational programming to more than 42 million homes nationwide on Satellite and Cable focusing on Health, Financial Literacy, and Education. HITN’s commitment to education is manifested in multiple programs and projects, including HITN Learning, an online, bilingual educational program that delivers innovative content in English/Language Arts and Mathematics for grades 3-6, and Ready To Learn, part of a U.S. Department of Education program designed to help low-income children better prepare for school and success as lifelong learners.
Pocoyo Playsets (software quality assurance and usability lead, acting qa manager): Provide day-to-day management and long-term planning of all testing for a suite of twenty-one educational apps, or PlaySets, funded by a five year DOE research grant. Each PlaySet combines interactive games, songs, and stories, as well as tools for educators and parents to interact with the child around the PlaySet content.
- Helped establish HITN’s software production guidelines and SDLC (software development life cycle).
- Developed and implemented testing strategy in accordance with said production guidelines.
- Maintain lines of communication with Madrid-based software development studio on all QA matters.
- Create use cases, test scripts, and other test documentation to support testing, as needed.
- Test and delegate testing of product, to include regression, functional, usability, compatibility, and release testing.
- Test product against corresponding GDDs (game design documents) and other supporting documentation, as applicable.
- Contract and manage 3rd party configuration testing to ensure hardware and OS compatibility.
- Assist instructional design team with usability testing and present findings to management.
- Work with team producers and game designers during product design to assist with issues of gameplay balancing, game mechanics, and questions regarding UI accessibility for target age group.
